Frank James Wild West Outlaw and His Dog Antique Texas Snapshot Photo
ORIGINAL HISTORICAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Frank James Wild West Outlaw and brother of Jesse James
who fought for the Confederacy and as a guerilla during the Civil War
and famously went on to criminal exploits in the James-Younger Gang.
After legally escaping full justice for his crimes, he eventually ended up in Texas
where he was a shoe salesman for Confederate serving friends, the Sanger Brothers.
During this time in Texas, beginning 1888, a photo was taken of a stoic James
with his floppy eared hound dog riding in his horse-drawn carriage.
This 1940s era snapshot is a photo of an original 1890s-1910s photo
which is presumed lost, and it inscribed in blue ink:
"Frank James - Jury his dog - Dan 2-10 Pacer Horse"
There aren't many known photos of Frank James and this provides
a rare look into the man during his later years in relative anonymity.
