is granted free passage on the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad
by the Iowa State Adjutant's Office to attend the Veterans Reunion in Des Moines in 1870
Garner went on to become aid-de-camp as a Lieutenant in the Iowa Cavalry
